“Music4Water”
“Music4Water” is a series six fund raising concerts produced by Community Connections for Youth (CCY); a Woodstock area not-for-profit youth support organization. All the concerts will be presented at the Woodstock Opera House.
Our community’s young people will be involved in multiple aspects of the “Music4Water” concerts. They will perform in three of the concerts and will help with management and promotion of all six events. Two charities will benefit from our efforts. One brings clean water to villages around the world by delivering a water pump/filter device that transforms nearly any undrinkable water into drinkable water (airmobile.org). Each machine, which is called the “Vortex Voyager”, produces enough clean drinking water for 500 people per day. The Vortex Voyagers have been placed in various locales over the past five years and are also flown into emergency areas following disasters such as the recent earthquakes in Haiti and Chile. The other recipient is “Friends of the Fox River” (friendsofthefoxriver.org), who work to improve the health of our local rivers, creeks and streams. They do so with the active engagement of our local youth via a curriculum they provide our county’s middle and high schools.
David Rigby, a local retired educator involved with both charities will demonstrate the Voyager at each concert. With these two organizations the “Music4Water” concerts will positively impact lives both far from us and in our own back yard.
